What is Distearoylethyl Dimonium Chloride?

We use this ingredient instead of silicones as these ingredients can be damaging to the hair shaft and bioaccumulate in the environment. They are also part of David Suzuki's Dirty Dozen list for ingredients to avoid. Distearoylethyl Dimonium Chloride is a quaternary ammonium salt, which is used as a conditioning agent for hair. This is what leaves your hair looking and feeling sleek and shiny while helping to detangle hair. It is approved by COSMOS-standard (EcoCert) for natural and organic cosmetics.

What is Cetearyl Alcohol?

Cetearyl Alcohol is a white, waxy substance from plant-based derivatives often used in cosmetic products such as skin lotions, hair products, and creams to help create smoother creams and thicker lotions. While it contains the word "alcohol", it is very different from "regular" alcohols like ethanol that tend to be drying and not ideal for the skin. According to the Environmental Working Group (EWG), it is rated a "1" which suggests that the concern for use is low and not concerning.

What is Isoamyl Laurate?

Isoamyl Laurate is a plant-based ester oil known for its easy spreadability without any greasy or sticky after-feel that leaves hair feeling silky smooth. According to the Environmental Working Group (EWG), it is rated a "1", which suggests that the concern for use is low and not a concern for health.
