Green Electrolyte Smoothie

Hallelujah! It's full-on summer in Toronto which means my workouts are outside more, I'm riding my bike everywhere and I'm getting my daily dose of the suns

Hallelujah! It's full-on summer in Toronto which means my workouts are outside more, I'm riding my bike everywhere and I'm getting my daily dose of the sunshine vitamin.

In comes this smoothie... "Delicious replenishment" are two words that perfectly describe the Green Electrolyte Smoothie.

I made it after my Eat Clean Body Lean workout and bike ride. I will admit I was feeling pretty beat (my legs were tired from those lunges and my abs were screaming - in a good way). The Green Electrolyte Smoothie gave me a joyous pick-

me-up! I tested it out on Walker (because it's a newbie recipe) and he approved. So this recipe is slightly different than the one I posted on instagram because it serves two.

Health Benefits:

The "electrolyte" part is due to the coconut water which is rich in minerals and naturals salts such as potassium and magnesium. The ginger was very anti-inflammatory due to gingerols and it also added a good flavour kick. Normally I only using ginger in raw juices and veggie stir-fries so this was a nice change. Pineapple is wonderfully anti-inflammatory as well and good for digestion too thanks to bromelain, an protein digesting enzyme. The hemp seeds are a complete protein which is essential for rebuilding muscle tissue (working on my pipes!) and it's a great source of good fats called GLA. And lastly, the banana and coconut milk make it thick and creamy.

It is really important to nourish your body after exercise. As good as exercise is for our body it creates inflammation and tissue acidity. The ingredients in this smoothie lower inflammation and alkalinize the body.

Did I mention this smoothie tastes amazing too!

Do you have a specific type of blender that you prefer? I keep hearing great things about the Vitamix, but it is expensive!!
