A trusted nutrition expert, Joy has been featured in hundreds of publications both online and in print; and is a regular health expert on TV. Through her innate drive to inspire others, Joy has created numerous online programs and eBooks under JOYOUS U. She also co-hosts the Joyous Health Podcast with her partner in life and business, Walker.
Joyous Health is the ongoing story of how one woman took her passion for natural health and not only used it to heal her own health issues, but to also inspire and teach others that they can take charge of their own health joyously, mindfully, and naturally!
I had been struggling with symptoms of hormonal imbalance for five years, even though all my friends thought I was a health nut, so it just didn’t seem to make any sense. My hair was thinning, PMS was making me an emotional basket-case, my skin was dry, my digestion was a mess, and I didn’t have regular periods. After years of following a conventional medical approach, I chose a different path that would transform my life.
While on my own healing journey, it became clear that in order to fully heal I needed to leave the marketing industry for good and follow my passion. I enrolled at the Institute of Holistic Nutrition where I had the most enjoyable academic years of my life. I had always been a lover of all things natural health and considered myself a lifelong student of nutrition, but going to school set this passion on fire!
While going to IHN, I learned so much more than I ever imagined I would. I healed my own health issues and helped family members and friends – who were more than happy to be my guinea pigs – heal their health problems too. During this time, I started blogging to inspire people beyond my immediate circle and Joyous Health was born!
The years leading up to 2013 were exciting years for Joyous Health. I was busy speaking, writing, consulting and developing new products. However, this year was particularly special because I launched my first online program, Joyous 10-Day Detox; a line of natural and organic body care; and, most importantly, my husband Walker joined the team full-time. He left his corporate job selling fancy cars and returned to his entrepreneurial roots to join me in the day-to-day efforts of running Joyous Health. He brought more joy to the office then I ever thought possible – it was a match made in joyous heaven!
My dream came true and my first book, Joyous Health: Eat and Live Well without Dieting, was published (and became a best-seller)! This book is truly a celebration of real food, life and proving that healthy eating can be delicious. I’m thankful every day for the opportunity to share my love of natural health with the world and help others experience joyous health for themselves by realizing the healing power of food and committing to a healthy lifestyle – both important topics that I cover in this book.
Vienna Beate Thea Jordan graced us with her old soul and her beautiful blue eyes on September 8, 2015. Walker and I have experienced more love than we ever thought possible having a little girl. The first year was quite an adventure! I’ve been incredibly inspired and motivated in the kitchen, creating more deliciousness so my whole family will be well-nourished.
My first book, Joyous Health, has truly changed people’s lives for the better. I thought it might be hard to top it with book 2: Joyous Detox. I’m joyous to tell you that I think I’ve done it! Joyous Detox is set to hit shelves December 2016 and the recipes are so delicious this is a detox you’re going to want to do every single day! You’ll be feeling energized, bloat-free and gorgeous when you take a break from sugar, dairy and gluten.
To this very day and for every day after, the driving force for everything we do remains the same – to inspire people to live healthier, happier lives.
